As a Program Manager / Multi-Project Manager, you will take on the cross-project management of a complex overall initiative within our customer’s Technical Development organization. You will coordinate multiple projects, teams and areas of activity, ensuring that individual initiatives come together to form one successful overall program.

In doing so, you will combine a strong understanding of Technical Development, professional program management expertise, and excellent customer and stakeholder management skills.

Your Responsibilities

As a Program Manager / Multi-Project Manager, you will assume overall responsibility for the planning, management and continuous development of a complex program.

• You will manage several interconnected projects and workstreams with regard to objectives, scope, timelines, resources, quality and budget.
• You will establish and take ownership of appropriate governance, reporting and decision-making structures for the overall program.
• You will coordinate cross-project dependencies, risks, milestones and conflicting objectives, working with the respective owners to develop and implement solutions.
• You will translate the strategic and business objectives of Technical Development into clear roadmaps, priorities and actionable workstreams.
• You will manage collaboration between project managers, Product Owners, business departments, IT, architecture, development teams, as well as internal and external partners.
• You will maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders and decision-makers, create transparency and ensure continuous communication across the entire program.
• You will prepare complex topics and decision requirements in a management-ready format and represent the overall program in relevant committees and governance bodies.
• You will continuously develop the program’s methods, structures and management tools, thereby creating the foundation for successful implementation.

Your Profile

For this position, we are not looking for a traditional PMO profile. We are looking for someone who can manage complex initiatives across multiple projects, understands the business processes of Technical Development and is confident operating within the Volkswagen environment.

• You have several years of experience as a Program Manager, Multi-Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in complex IT and transformation initiatives and are experienced in applying agile, traditional and hybrid project management methods as well as managing agile teams and complex project environments.
• You have very strong knowledge of the business processes and organizational structures within the Technical Development function of an automotive OEM.
• You have practical experience in cross-project or program management at Volkswagen and, ideally, are familiar with relevant structures, stakeholders and decision-making processes.
• You are able to identify complex dependencies, risks and conflicting objectives at an early stage, prioritize them and translate them into concrete decisions and actions.
• You actively and sustainably develop the customer relationship, build trusted relationships with relevant stakeholders and decision-makers, and maintain continuous dialogue to ensure that expectations, requirements and strategic developments are identified early and incorporated into the overall program.
• You communicate confidently across different organizational levels and are able to bring together business, technical and organizational interests.
• You work independently, reliably and with a strong solution-oriented mindset, and you see program management as an active leadership and shaping responsibility.
• You have excellent written and spoken German and English skills.
